WILDLIFE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM AT CAMPVENTION
Al and Joanie Stone
We have arranged for an educational program at Campvention this year from SOAR. SOAR is an organization which was established in 1999 dedicated to saving our avian resources through raptor rehabilitation, education, and research. SOAR’S goal is to return all birds to the wild. However, not all birds are able to be released once they are healed.
SOAR has a wonderful educational program in which they will share with us at Campvention. They will be bringing Thora (a bald eagle) and Peregrine Falcon. When Thora came to the center she was very underweight, but had no physical injuries. However, she had lead poisoning. She was rehydrated, fed and received three weeks of chelation therapy to remove the lead from her body. Her vision was still impaired and she was not able to see well enough to be released.
Thora and the Peregrine Falcon love to have their pictures taken so bring your camera.
Hope you will take the opportunity at Campvention to attend the Wildlife Educational Program put on by SOAR. We appreciate SOAR coming to present a program for us. Look in your program book for time and place.
