JULY 2013 EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING
The Executive Board of Family Campers & RVers met July 13 at the Amana, Iowa Campvention. Miss FCRV 2012, Alyssa Robb welcomed the group and led the Pledge of Allegiance . Key items of business included approval for a National Teen King contest to be added to Campvention starting next year and the winter board meeting will be held as a webinar which will save the expense of traveling.
Comptroller Vodean Benham reported income as of June 30 was $161,380 and expenses totaled $161, 178. Jan Cushing reported the Scholarship Fund has $274,413 and the Wildlife Fund has $86,191.
Lloyd Humphrey Invited everyone to Essex, Vermont for the 2014 Campvention , July 7-11. All sites will have water and 30 amp electric. The large arena is air conditioned. Early and possible after days are available. There is a circus next door that week that FCRVers can attend. There is plenty to do in the Lake Champlain Area. The 2015 Campvention will be July 6-10 in Gillette, Wyoming. Many interesting places such as Mount Rushmore are nearby. Loana Schroeder is the chairman.
Shari Weber announced that criteria has been added to the chapter of the Year award including chapter and FCRV growth promotion and percentage of rigs displaying FCRV’s logo. She also announced that 3 new chapters have been chartered – Hennepin Snappers, IL, Aberdeen Night Owls, SD, and Halton Fireflies, ONT. There were no lifesaving, merit, or humanitarian awards for this year. Debbie Ludwig will be the Regional Director for the South Central Region which hosts Campvention in 2016.
George Walters thanked Marilyn Shealy of South Carolina for her 17 years on the Executive
Board and her most recent service as Custodian of Records from which she has resigned. New Custodian of Records will be Bob and Jean Lockhart of Tennessee. Also resigning were Neva and George Lockett, USA Legislation Directors from Virginia after 9 years. Karen and Robert Snodgrass have been doing double duty as Adult Program and Youth Directors. A new Youth Director is needed.
President, Dave Ludwig announced that the winter board meeting will be replaced next year with a webinar (online conference call ). The “Go To Meeting” program will be used. Complete details will be sent out. Ludwig accepted a check for $4,598 from the 2013 retiree Rally in Louisiana from Retiree Director, Dick Likins. The 2014 Retiree Rally is March 25-31 in Canton, Texas. An election for 3 Trustee positions will take place next year – President, VP of Programs, Corresponding/Recording secretary.
Other items presented were: Dave Hennie – the Great Lakes Regional in IL was well attended. Karen Snodgrass – ladder golf will be an official sport at Campventions. Donella Wilkes – participation in Campers Actively Moving Program is down. Chapter and individual awards will be by region and activity must be at an FCRV event. Dwight Bonnifield – Security and Communications at Campventions will be combined. Mary Lehnerd – remind kids about posters, essays, and projects. Marilyn rausch – each state / province should have a Disaster Awareness Training captain. Shirley MacKenzie – the Museum of Camping in New Hampshire has closed down. A new home for the artifacts is being sought. Jill Serbousek – a photo book contest will be reinstated for States /Provinces using digitally prepared hardback photo books. Scott Serbousek – the new mire user friendly website is up and running thanks to Vickie Roop, Jill Serbousek, and Sarah Camp. Any problems with links should be reported to Vickie. The Cadet Reward Contest has another 3 months to go. Bill Eckman – 78 Cadet members have signed up in the last 3 months. A new approach to dealership sponsorship is in the planning. Jane Alft – there are 13 Teen queens this year. The Teen King Contest will be ready for 2014. Paul Parsley – thanks to the Vanderhoffs for their help with commercial vendors this year. Sue Fromholzer – if the office doesn’t have your e-mail, please send it. Marie Petersen – $14,000 in scholarships went to 11 students. Past FCRV President, Denny Campbell of Colorado was on hand for the Amana Campvention.
