Event information:
WEST THOMPSON LAKE 2022 CAMPGROUND SPRING CLEANUP

West Thompson Lake is a US Army Corps of Engineers facility with a small campground and is located just north of Putnam, Connecticut. For the past seventeen years (Except 2020 when the event was cancelled due to the virus) Connecticut FCRV members have done a spring cleanup there. For the past few years, this has been a six day event with some people staying for the whole time and others staying for only for a couple of days as their schedules permitted. This campground has modern bathrooms, hot showers, and water & electric (30 amp) hookups. The campground is not yet open to the public so we have it all to ourselves.

We have been in touch with our contact person there. We are scheduled to be there from Monday, May 9 thru Sunday, May 15. You are welcome to be there for any or all of the days as your schedule permits. Camping is free because of the work that we do.

Typical work has been blowing leaves from roads and campsites, power washing, painting, spreading mulch & wood chips, and stacking firewood in the shed. Blowers and other tools are provided. We generally have a potluck on either Friday or Saturday evening depending on the weather.

We will take sign ups and assign campsites on a “First Come / First Served” basis. A confirming email email with directions will be sent to those who have signed up a couple of weeks before the event.
